Vermont Fall Foliage with a Mobility Scooter: Planning an Accessible Trip
A Vermont foliage trip is on a lot of bucket lists, and many of the people on them are grandparents who do not walk the way they used to. The good news: much of Vermont's best color can be seen from village greens, paved paths and scenic pull-offs. With a mobility scooter rental, they can get out of the car and into it.
Accessible places to see the color
- Stowe Recreation Path. Paved, flat and lined with maples. See our Stowe guide.
- Woodstock village green. Historic homes, a covered bridge and color all around, on mostly level ground.
- Quechee Gorge. The bridge overlook is right by the road.
- Burlington waterfront. Lake views with the Adirondacks behind. See our waterfront guide.
Which rental for a foliage trip
You will be in and out of the car all day. A Pride GoGo travel scooter breaks down quickly for the trunk. If someone will mostly stay at one or two spots and the ground is uneven, a Victory heavy-duty scooter is more comfortable. For quick stops, a transport chair is the fastest to unload.
Timing and booking
Northern Vermont usually peaks in late September to early October, southern Vermont a week or two later. That is our busiest stretch, so reserve as early as you can. Weekdays are calmer everywhere.
