Franconia Notch: Accessible Scenic Stops with a Rental

Franconia Notch is one of the most spectacular corners of the White Mountains, a dramatic mountain pass with Echo Lake, the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway, the Flume Gorge and the paved recreation path running through it. Some of it involves rugged trails that are not accessible, but several of the best experiences can be enjoyed on firm, paved surfaces or from the car, which means a loved one with limited mobility can take in this scenery too, with a little planning.

Oceans Mobility delivers to the Franconia and Lincoln area.

Where a scooter or chair works

The paved recreation path through the notch is a wonderful, mostly gentle surface for a travel mobility scooter or a transport wheelchair, offering mountain and water views without a strenuous hike. The Cannon tramway is a mostly sit-down way to reach a summit view, call ahead about boarding and accessibility. Echo Lake's beach area and several overlooks are reachable on firm ground.

Where to take care

The Flume Gorge trail is steep, uneven and not wheelchair or scooter accessible, so plan to enjoy the notch's accessible stops instead. We are happy to help you build a route around the surfaces that work. A rollator with a seat is handy for short walks with rests.
