Does Medicare or Insurance Cover Mobility Rentals?
It is a common and reasonable question: can you use Medicare or insurance to pay for a mobility scooter or wheelchair rental? The honest answer is that it depends, and that short-term, convenience-focused rentals like ours usually work differently from the long-term medical equipment that insurance programs are set up to cover. Here is a plain overview so you know what to expect.
Oceans Mobility is a private rental service; we are not medical providers or a billing office.
The general picture
Programs like Medicare may cover durable medical equipment when it is deemed medically necessary and prescribed by a doctor, and typically through approved medical suppliers, with their own rules and paperwork. Short-term rentals for a vacation, an event, a visiting relative or general convenience usually fall outside that, and are handled as a simple private rental. Coverage rules are complex and personal, so for anything involving medical necessity, the right people to ask are your doctor's office and your insurer or Medicare directly.
Why a private rental can still be the easy choice
For most of our customers, renting privately is actually simpler and faster, there is no prescription, approval process or paperwork, and you get the equipment exactly when you need it. Our pricing is clear and upfront, and we deliver and pick up. If you need a receipt for your own records, just ask.
